199 fresh positive cases detected in Tinsukia dist

DOOMDOOMA, Aug 6 - During the last 24 hours, 199 fresh cases of COVID-19 were detected in Tinsukia district. With this, the total number of Covid positive patients in Tinsukia district jumped to 2484. Out of these positive cases, 787 are still active while 1830 patients were released from the hospitals, stated the district Covid bulletin issued by the DIPRO, Tinsukia this morning.

Meanwhile, police and district administration have taken strict measures against the lockdown violators. Three youths have been taken under police custody for violating lockdown norms. According to information, a car bearing no. AS-06R-0008 was asked to stop by the OC, Tinsukia PS at Tulshiram Road of Tinsukia town around 8:15 pm on Wednesday. But, the driver of the car tried to speed away. In his attempt, the car hit the vehicle of Niluram Sharma, an Executive Magistrate and Assistant Commissioner of Tinsukia, who jumped out of his vehicle to save himself and sustained minor injury. The Magistrate was on duty there. Later, police picked up the three youths in this connection including the driver of the car from Chaliha Nagar area of Tinsukia.

It can be mentioned here that a week-long total lockdown has been imposed in the areas under Tinsukia and Makum municipal boards since 6 pm of Wednesday to contain the rapid spread of the pandemic.
