SILCHAR, Feb 4 - In a bid to extend helping hands towards the people belonging to the financially weaker section of the society, Lions Club of Silchar Central conducted the ritual of mass wedding on Sunday amid great enthusiasm.
As many as 19 pairs of bride and groom, mostly from the tea gardens, tied the knot in the ceremony held on the premises of Deshbhakta Tarun Ram Phukan School.
Cachar Deputy Commissioner Dr S Laxmanan, chairperson of Silchar Municipal Board NN Tagore and dignitaries graced the occasion to bless the newly married pairs. District governor of the organisation Radha Agarwal was also present on the occasion.
