DOOMDOOMA, June 1 - Nineteen more people of Tinsukia district were found COVID-19 positive on Sunday night and Monday morning.
According to an official source, 18 out of 19 positive persons had returned from other States and were in institutional quarantine at different centres in the district while the other person has no travel history and was at home. All these 19 positive patients have been shifted to Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi Civil Hospital, Tinsukia for treatment. With the detection of 19 new positive cases, the total number of COVID-19 positive patients in Tinsukia district have increased to 30.
The positive person with no travel history has been identified as Ramesh Bakshi (31) of Bilashpur Line of Tongona Tea Estate. According to information, Ramesh used to work at Namsai in Arunachal Pradesh. On March 24, he had returned home. He has been suffering from cold, cough and fever for quite sometime and got treatment at Tongona Tea Estate hospital, Kakopothar PHC and Tinsukia Civil Hospital. As he was not cured, the doctors sent him to Tinsukia where his swab sample was taken for test. As per the report of the test at ICMR, Lahowal, Dibrugarh, Ramesh was detected COVID-19 positive. The administration has declared the entire Bilaspur Line of Tongona Tea Estate as a containment zone. Panic grips people of Doomdooma circle as he had travelled from Tongona to Kakopothar, Doomdooma and Tinsukia in auto and Magic van and had come into contact with so many people.
Meanwhile, the Kakopothar Regional Committee of All Moran Students� Union has urged all those who had come into contact with the COVID-19 positive patient to come forward for swab test.
