19 file papers for Guwahati HPC

BAIHATA CHARIALI, April 7 - A total of 19 candidates for the 7 No. Guwahati HPC seat filed nomination papers and after scrutiny all the 19 nomination papers of the candidates were found valid.

Candidates for the Guwahati HPC seat are Manoj Sarma from All India Trinamool Congress, Queen Oja from BJP, Bobbeeta Sarma from Indian National Congress, Abhijit Chakraborty from Bharatiya Gana Parishad, Sadek Ali from Republican Party of India, Pankaj Das from Swarna Bharat Party, Partha Pratim Baruah from Voter�s Party International, Mamoni Sarma from Purbanchal Janata Party (secular) Ran Vijay Kumar Rai from Rashtriya Jana Sambhavana Party, Rajib Kakati from Hindusthan Nirman Dal, Ratul Kumar Choudhury from Samajwadi Party and Rubi Neog from National Republican Party .

On the other hand, Alimuddin Ahmed, Upamanyu Hazarika, Utpal Borgohain, Junmoni Devi Khound, Pranab Jyoti Das, Faruk Ahmed Bhuyan and Shankha Sinha filed nomination papers as Independent candidates.

The Kamrup election district authorities informed that in order to take stock of the situation regarding preparation of the ensuing Lok Sabha poll to be held on April 23, the General Observer appointed by the Election Commission of India for Guwahati HPC K Dhananjaya Reddy visited the HPC and organised a discussion on April 5 at the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup with a number of government officers.
