ITANAGAR, July 24 (PTI) - As many as 183 butterfly species have been identified and photo documented in the buffer area of Namdhapa National Park in Arunachal Pradesh during the 13th Butterfly India Meet.
Ariff Siddiqui, one of the organisers of the meet, said more species may be found in the core area of the park but they could not venture deep into the park due to rain.
The 30 participants from different parts of the country also identified numerous moths apart from some glittering beetles like 'Golden Tortoise' during the meet which ended yesterday.
Dr Alfred, Former Director of the Zoological Survey of India said, "This is an encouraging indicator for existence of many other species of the butterflies in the core area in Namdhapa and in new forests in the area.
