18 new cases in Mizoram

AIZAWL, Oct 13 - Eighteen people, including 11 security personnel, have tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Mizoram, taking the State�s virus count to 2,202 today.

An official release stated that out of 109 samples tested in the TrueNat laboratories of district hospitals, 14 were confirmed positive. Among 673 samples put to rapid antigen tests in different districts, four came out positive. All 462 samples tested at the RT-PCR laboratory of the Zoram Medical College, however, were negative, the release added.

The 18 new patients include five personnel of the 1 Assam Rifles headquartered at Kawmzawl, Lunglei district, and six Indian Army personnel posted at the Counter Insurgency and Jungle Warfare School (CIJWS) at Vairengte, Kolasib district. Two civilians employed at the CIJWS have also tested positive. Except for the two civilians, the Armymen at the CIJWS will be treated at the Military Hospital, Masimpur, Assam.

The active cases of COVID-19 in Mizoram now stand at 156, while 2,046 patients have recovered so far. The State still has no death case.
