18 get life term for murder after 16 years

DHUBRI, July 10 - The Additional District and Sessions Judge, Dhubri Jogeshwar Bora on Tuesday, sentenced 18 persons to imprisonment for life in connection with a murder committed 16 years ago.

Additional Public Prosecutor, Sudaman Ch Roy informed that the accused were found guilty under Section 302 of the IPC for which they were given a life time imprisonment with a fine of Rs 1000/- each, an additional two months under Section 324 of IPC and another two months for finding them guilty under Section 148 IPC and Rs 500 in fine for finding them guilty under Section 323 of the IPC in a sessions case vide no. 35/2004.

According to the details of the case, the accused were found guilty of killing Samer Ali and Bahar Ali and greviously injuring a few people at Tanbhita village under South Salmara PS, on December 10, 2002, at about 8:30 pm regarding a land dispute. The case was registered under South Salmara PS vide no 243/2002 under Section 147,148,149, 302, 307, 323, 324, 325 and 447 of the IPC.

Those convicted are: Haran Ali, Hasem Ali, Abdus Sabur, Amir Ali, Akhtar Ali Hussain, Kasem Ali, Korman Ali, Garibullah, Bahar Ali, Balia Mondal, Saburuddin, Abdul Malek, Sirajul Hoque, Maznu Bepari, Monnaf Ali, Jalal Uddin Sk, Nuruddin and Rahim Uddin, all belonging to different villages under South Salmara PS.
