18 boys rescued

GUWAHATI, Feb 26 � A group of 18 boys were found at the Guwahati Railway Station on Wednesday by Childline activists and CID when they were allegedly being taken to a religious mutt in north India.

GRP sources said the 18 kids, four from Hailakandi in Assam and 14 from Tripura, were accompanied by a team of five adults.

Childline received a tip-off about their presence at the railway station and its volunteers and the CID team reached the station. The 18 kids, in the age group of 6-15 years, were later taken away by Childline. The adults accompanying them were questioned by police. They said the boys were being taken to a religious mutt in Himachal Pradesh. Inquiry is on verify the truth. No FIR has been filed in this regard so far, said GRP officials.
