172 COVID-19 cases in Manipur

IMPHAL, June 7 - With the detection of 15 new cases, the total number COVID-19 positive cases in Manipur has increased to 172, state Health officials said today.

�Last night, 15 persons were found to be COVID-19 positive in Regional Institute of Medical Sciences and Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences,�said Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, Additional Director and spokesperson of Health department.

According to information, Thoubal has six cases, Ukhrul five, Kangpokpi three and Imphal West has only one. All of them were returnees from Mumbai and New Delhi.

�Their health conditions ate stable and they are being shifted to the COVID care facilities at RIMS and JNIMS�, an official release said.

In the last 24 hours,1, 249 samples were conducted test at the RIMS and JNIMS and all of them were found to be negative, it said. It is learnt that 17,028 samples were tested for COVID-19 till date in the state, and 2,56,062 were screened at various checking centres in the state. Around 11,958 are now being kept under quarantine centres.

Lockdown violators detained: As part of the ongoing drive to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the Manipur Police detained 541 persons along with 545 vehicles for violating the ongoing lockdown/curfew, said Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) L Kailun. They were imposed fine.
