17 journalists selected for media fellowship

GUWAHATI, Aug 2 - Seventeen journalists of the state have been selected for media fellowship under the Information and Public Relations department for the financial year 2019-20.

The decision was taken at a selection committee meeting held at the Conference Hall of the Additional Chief Secretary, Information and Public Relations department at Janata Bhawan, Dispur. The journalists whose fellowship proposals have been approved are � Sailen Kumar Saikia of Nagaon, Krishna Bhuyan of Guwahati, Lachit Barman of Guwahati, Pranita Roy Bhuyan of Biswanath, Pranjal Bora of Guwahati, Partha Pratim Baruah of Guwahati, Bhaskarjyoti Das of Guwahati, Manas Jyoti Dutta of Dibrugarh, Agnibh Gogoi of Guwahati, Ananta Narayan Borthakur of Jorhat, Jadumoni Saikia of Guwahati, Arup Sandilya of Guwahati, Arup Kalita of Guwahati, Chidananda Saikia of Guwahati, Utpal Barooah of Guwahati, Priyamjyoti Phukan of North Lakhimpur and Satananda Bhattacharjee of Hailakandi.

The Information and Public Relations department introduced the scheme, Media Fellowship for Journalists in 2018-19 to help journalists improve their professional skills and upgrade their knowledge. Under the scheme, Rs 50,000 will be awarded to each journalist.
