DIBRUGARH, Aug 25 - At least seventeen children fell ill after reportedly consuming stale food at the Manipuribam village near the Naharkatia College yesterday.
The conditions of Bhadri Murari (5), Shyam Murari (4), Subham Tanti (3) and Bijay Tanti (3) were said to be critical and they were brought to the Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) here for treatment.
It needs to be mentioned that the children of the village were served the leftover food of one religious function held the previous day in the house of one Raju Tanti of the village.
All the children who showed signs of stomach ache, diarrhoea and vomiting were rushed to the nearby government hospital but four critical ones were referred to the Assam Medical College and Hospital.
