169th birth anniversary celebration of Anundoram Borooah today

GUWAHATI, May 20 - The Anundaram Borooah Institute of Language, Art & Culture, Assam (ABILAC), which was established as an autonomous research institute in the hallowed memory of the great Sanskrit scholar Anundoram Borooah, is going to celebrate his 169th birth anniversary tomorrow on its premises at Rajaduar, North Guwahati, his birth place, a press release stated.

A meeting commemorating the great scholar will be held from 3 pm. Professor Ashok Kumar Goswami, retired Professor and Head, Department of Sanskrit, Gauhati University, who is the vice-chairman of the governing council and chairman of the executive committee of ABILAC, will preside over the meeting. Siddhartha Bhattacharya, Education Minister, Assam and chairman, governing council of ABILAC will grace the occasion as the chief guest. Dr Rajendranath Sarma, former Professor of Sanskrit, Gauhati University will deliver a commemorative lecture on Anundoram Borooah. Dr Pitambar Deva Goswami, the Satradhikar of Auniati Satra will grace the occasion as the distinguished guest.

The 9th volume of the journal of ABILAC Anandam, is going to be released in the meeting. The Anundoram Borooah Award for the year 2018 is also going to be declared in the meeting.
