160 active COVID cases in Golaghat dist

DERGAON, June 1 - With two new cases, the total number of active cases in Golaghat district has increased to 160 on Monday.

One hundred and sixteen patients including one from Karbi Anglong district are undergoing treatment at the Swahid Kushal Konwar Civil Hospital (SKKCH) Golaghat as against 120 beds in the hospital and 44 patients have been sent to Jorhat Medical College Hospital (JMCH).

Papu Gogoi, DIPRO in-charge, said that a total of 2473 passengers who had returned by train were kept in institutional quarantine centres and among them 1548 have been discharged so far. A total of 925 such persons are still in the institutional quarantine centres.

Golaghat Deputy Commissioner Bibhash Ch Modi said that a total of 160 samples tested negative on Monday.

Meanwhile, the DC reviewed the home quarantine arrangements with the administrative officers at a meeting at his conference hall today.

The meeting made strategies for successful 14 days of home quarantine system for persons returning from outside the State.

Modi instructed the officers to take necessary action to form block and village-level home quarantine management committees.

The block committee will be headed by the Block Development Level Medical and Health Officer where the Circle Officer, Block Development Officer, ASHA worker, Anganwadi worker, village headman and other designated persons will look after the activities.

Finally, the DC urged all the citizens to keep a strict vigil for the success of home quarantine in consultation with the district administrative officials.

The meeting was attended by the Chief Executive Officer of Zila Parishad Abhijit Baruah, District Development Commissioner Orpah Baglary, ADC Lakhimi Dutta, Khanidra Das, Dhiraj Das, Circle Officers, Joint Director of Health Services, among others.
