16 water supply schemes completed in Karimganj dist

KARIMGANJ, April 10 � The PHE Silchar division-I has set a remarkable record in implementing the Chief Minister�s project rural water supply scheme. During the last few years, Silchar PHE division has undertaken water supply schemes for the inhabitants of the tea garden. The Silchar PHE division-1 is executing the construction work of water supply schemes in Borkhola, Katigorah and a part of Algapur LAC. This division of PHE has successfully executed water supply scheme at Rampur TE, Subong TE, Rampur Garden, Subong Garden, Bororampur Garden, Srikona TE, Lalbong Bagan, Dalugram, Mainagarh Bagan and Chandranathpur TE under Borkhola LAC and Kalicherra Cha Bagicha, Craigpark Bagicha, Kurkuri TE, Konapara Cha Bagicha, Boikunthapur Grant and Katirail Cha Bagicha under Katigorah LAC. Nearly 50000 tea garden labourers comprising 22 habitations are getting pure drinking water from 16 water supply schemes.

After completion of 16 water supply schemes in TE areas by the Silchar PHE division-I the health scene of these 22 tea tribes areas has changed. During the last three to four years there has not been a single case of death due to water-borne diseases.

Altogether 2021 tea labourers of Lalbagh TE have benefited by receiving drinking water through Lalbagh Bagan water supply scheme, disclosed Sankar Dhubi and Budhan Lal Sautal, bagan panchayat members of the TE. The total health scenario of the gardens has changed after implementation of this scheme. During the last few years there has been no case of diarrhoea and jaundice.
