DIGBOI, June 27 - Altogether 16 panchayat secretaries of various gaon panchayats under different development blocks in Tinsukia district have been placed under suspension for ignoring a State Government order.
According sources, all the panchayat secretaries remained absent in a review meeting held at the Tinsukia Zila Parishad office on June 21 wherein the Minister for Panchayat & Rural Development, Government of Assam was present.
The secretaries were suspended for defying a State Government order and also negligence of duties. The step was initiated as per provision of Assam Service (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1964.
�Skipping a review meeting on the part of the collective GP secretaries bears testimony to the ongoing anomalies and irregularities often alleged in respect to implementation of various socio-economic, infrastructural and rural developmental projects of the Government of Assam� , a senior official said who did not wish to be named.
