DERGOAN, May 29 - Following rapid increase in active cases in Golaghat district, Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarmah will come here on Saturday.
Golaghat Deputy Commissioner Bibhash Ch Modi confirmed the schedule of the minister.
A source claimed that the minister will take stock of the COVID-19 situation in the district and the condition of the COVID-19 hospital as well as the measures taken in the quarantine centres across the district.
With 16 new positive cases, the total number of positive cases has increased to 150 in the district, of which 141 are active cases. Nine patients were already discharged in the district so far.
The new cases found on Friday are from Commerce College, Golaghat; Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya; Kachamari Model Hospital; Ratanpur Border Out Post and Bheloguri Gaon Panchayat quarantine centres. Of these new cases, one is a 6-year-old child, named Debika Bora.
Papu Gogoi, DIPRO in-charge, said all these new patients were sent to JMCH.
