16 held for Puri Express derailment

RANGIYA, July 12 � As many as 16 persons were arrested by Rangiya police today in connection with the IED blast which derailed four coaches of the Down Puri Express at Bhatkuchi near here, injuring several passengers. These persons were picked up from Kekohati, Bhatkuchi, Goriakhoth and Batahkuchi, OC HC Das of Rangiya PS told this correspondent adding a massive operation is on to nab the culprits involved in the incident.

Meanwhile, the State Government has announced compensation for those injured in the Puri Express derailment. Forest Minister Rockybul Hussain, representing the State Government, visited Bhatkuchi and took stock of the situation. Later, addressing a press meet, the Minister said CM was concerned about the incident and would initiate every possible measure to book the culprits behind the incidents. He further announced that the State government would provide Rs 1 lakh and Rs 10,000 each to those suffering severe and minor injuries respectively in the incident. The NFR authority has cleared the renovation work of the damaged railway track at Bhatkuchi and normal running of trains on the route is likely from today, sources said.
