By Correspondent

TURA, Jan 9 - Following complaints from various quarters, the employment of 16 AYUSH doctors have been terminated on the ground they did not meet the job criteria.

Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) doctors are appointed under the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) programme. They are appointed on contract basis and paid about Rs 22,000 as remuneration.

The latest termination comes in the wake of 15 other contracts being terminated in North and East Garo Hills out of a total of 19 such doctors. Most were found to have fake degrees.

Their appointments were cancelled with effect from December 31 by the District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) of West Garo Hills.

Following a complaint that the AYUSH doctors did not meet the minimum criteria for employment, DC of WGH Pravin Bakshi ordered an inquiry and the 16 doctors were terminated.
