1530 deprived teachers to continue stir

SIVASAGAR, Sept 10 - A total of 1530 teachers in Sivasagar district who have allegedly been deprived of their salaries for the last 55 months, have decided to continue their sit-in demonstration in Sivasagar, Sonari and Amguri till fulfilment of their demands.

Addressing the teachers in front of DC office in Sivasagar, Jiten Das, secretary,Charaideo District Prathmik Sikshak Sanmilan, said that it was a gross violation of human rights on the part of the government. He alleged the all the six MLAs and the MP from the district had assured them a of settlement prior to the elections but now they are silent.

The teachers have threatened not to cooperate in the Gunutsov slated to be held on October 9 and 10 next month unless the Government takes an initiative to solve the issue. Meanwhile, the TET-qualified and not selected unemployed youths here have expressed deep anguish and frustration over the Education Department�s alleged arbitrary and irrational policy of selection as many candidates with low scores got preference over the ones with better marks in the latest appointments.
