JORABAT, Sept 2 - About 1,500 residents of Pub-Maloibari village under Sonapur revenue circle failed to get their names included in the final NRC which was released on August 31. Altogether 2,000 people of the village had applied for inclusion of their names in the citizenship document.

Majority of the people of this village belong to the Hindu-Bengali community and their names are already enrolled in the voters list. They have expressed dissatisfaction with the discrepancies in the NRC updating process.

Critical of the credibility of NRC officials, a number of residents of Pub-Maloibari alleged before mediapersons that there were discrepancies in the NRC updating process.

With the help of same documents, our children who have been married in other parts of the State were able to register names in the final NRC, but the NRC officials here have not accepted the same documents, resulting in exclusion of names of 1,500 people from the NRC. We demand a proper inquiry into the matter and necessary action against the NRC officials concerned, the residents said.
