15-day drama workshop under way in Golaghat

DERGAON, June 4 - Bengenakhuwa Art Training Centre in Golaghat has been conducting its annual Summer Drama Workshop at Amulapatty Middle English School in Golaghat town.

The workshop which started on June 1 will continue till Juve 15. Participants within the age group of 7 to 16 years are taking part in the workshop.

The participants will have to stage a play at Amateur Theatre Society, Golaghat towards the end of the workshop. The play will be directed by Banashree Kakaty.

Founded by Rubul Bora, Bhaskar Bora and Rintu Bora, Bengenakhuwa Art Training Centre has been organising drama workshops since 2012. Participated by 50 students, the workshop last year was mentored by Sirumoni Bhuyan.

A play titled Budhuram directed by Bhuyan was staged at Amateur Theatre Society, Golaghat during the concluding programme of the workshop.

The mentors� list for the previous years includes Sunmoni Sarma, Bichitra Bora, Late Ajit Dutta, Jatin Saikia, Nabajyoti Sarma, Subrata Kakoty and Hemanta Gogoi. The art training centre was also fortunate enough to get drama lessons from Pabitra Rabha, an eminent theatre personality of the state.

�The primary aim of our workshop is to train the participants in the basic nuances of drama and develop their acting skills,� said Bhaskar Bora.

�We get entries from all across Golaghat. We are determined to bring out and hone talents from every nook and corner of the district,� Bora further added.

A committee comprising of 11 members with Rubul Bora as president and Bhaskar Bora as secretary was formed in this regard.
