DIMAPUR, Sept 15 - Legal services institutions across Nagaland disposed of 147 cases on Saturday as part of the nationwide National Lok Adalat Day.
A total of 11 Lok Adalat benches were constituted by the district legal services authorities in the respective district headquarters. In total, 677 disputes and cases were listed, of which 147 were resolved with a settlement sum of Rs 99,41,305. The settlement amount consisted of mutually agreed payments between litigants, along with fine money, bank recovery money, money suits, compensation money, etc.
A press release issued by the Lok Adalat wing of the Nagaland State Legal Services Authority stated that the Lok Adalat forum has been gaining popularity through wide publicity, awareness, participation and awakening of legal consciousness among the people.
