144 CrPC imposed in Dibrugarh dist

DIBRUGARH, March 28 - In an effort to maintain peace and tranquility in the district, Additional District Magistrate here by an order has promulgated Section 144 CrPC in the entire district today, banning all forms of demonstrations, assembly in public places including rallies, procession, hunger strikes, shouting of slogans, burning of effigies and arranging training in public places with batons and weapons.

The prohibitory order has also banned erection of swahid bedis at government and non-government areas, collection of donations, road blockades, carrying of lethal weapons and arms including, sticks, dagger and spears to prevent breach of public peace and tranquility.

The order also prohibits grouping, loitering and assembling in street corners, road junctions, footpaths etc. Other activities, which have been banned are inflammatory speeches (communal, anti-state, anti-national), gambling in public places, bursting or throwing crackers and inflammable materials on streets or public or on vehicles, use of tinted glasses on vehicles, use of full-mask helmets, wearing of combat uniforms and pillion-riding etc.
