DOOMDOOMA, April 22 - In a joint operation by the Army and Assam Police, 14 ULFA(I) activists were apprehended from Sivasagar, Jorhat, Golaghat, Charaideo, Dibrugarh and Tinsukia districts in upper Assam, stated a press release issued by the Army Brigade Headquarters situated at Laipuli in Tinsukia.
These 14 activists included three cadres, seven overground workers and four recruits. Seven overground workers were aiding ULFA(I) cadres by facilitating extortion, movement of weapons and explosives and luring youths for recruitment in the banned outfit.
Four recruits were rescued from captivity. Later they will be handed over to their parents after counselling by police authorities, stated the Army press release.
CM to visit Sadiya: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal will visit Sadiya in Tinsukia district on Thursday. He will attend a review meeting regarding initiatives taken to combat COVID-19 in the district.
