14 shops gutted, two injured in Chandranathpur in Cachar

SILCHAR, Sept 27: At least 14 shops were gutted in a massive fire at Chandranathpur market under Borkhola police station of Cachar district on Thursday night.

According to sources, the incident occurred due to an LPG cylinder explosion in a tea stall.

A 45-year-old woman and a 6-year-old were severely injured in the incident. The woman was identified as Jharna Dhar.

The injured were rushed to Silchar Medical College and Hospital, where the condition of the woman was reported to be critical.

Sources said that the fire caused damage of approximately Rs 50 lakhs. The fire was doused after a gritty battle by firemen.

Meanwhile, local BJP MLA Kishore Nath visited the spot and took stock of the situation.
