14 shops gutted in Arunachal

ITANAGAR, Aug 6 - Altogether, 14 shops and a dwelling house were reduced to ashes in a major fire mishap at Hayuliang market (Kala Bazar) under Anjaw district of Arunachal Pradesh, official sources said here.

Short circuit was suspected to have caused the fire that broke out around midnight last. The fire was doused around 1.45 am by the local public. Two water tankers from Army arrived around 2 am but by then the fire was already extinguished.

There was, however, no report of any loss of lives. Two persons are said to have sustained injury apparently during the course of fire fighting.

Fourteen shops were gutted completely and nothing could be saved. One dwelling house is also reported to have been completely gutted. One shop had to be demolished to control further spread of fire, according to DC, Anjaw.
