ITANAGAR, March 4 � Fourteen dwelling houses, a church, two granaries and six rice mills were reduced to ashes in a devastating fire at Tadin village in West Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh on Tuesday.
The fire that broke out in daytime also devoured one motorcycle, two SBBL guns and huge properties of the affected people. However, there was no report of any casualty in the inferno, the cause of which is not ascertained yet.
A team of officers headed by Deputy Commissioner in-charge of West Siang, Tamik Talom visited the fire site to take stock of the situation. As immediate relief, the DC provided an amount of Rs 4,000 each to the fire-affected families along with 12 bags of rice and one bag of salt. He said the district administration will assess the loss of properties through an assessment committee which will soon be rushed to the village.
