GUWAHATI, Feb 27 - In an operation against drug peddlers, city police this morning apprehended 14 people from the stretch between Panbazar bridge to Railway gate number 3, Fancy Bazar.
�A combined team from Panbazar police, Assam Police commando and Birangana conducted a search operation in that area and apprehend suspected people including women in connection with drugs and other illegal activities. There are some gangs in these areas involved in many illegal activities like drug peddling, smuggling, etc,� officer-in-charge of Panbazar Police Station Hemen Das said.
�The team also demolished small huts, tents and camps during the drive along the stretch. We got several complaints against railway encroachment on the stretch. We will be able to nab more people in connection with illegal activities in the city,� he added.
The police have started questioning the apprehended people.
