DIBRUGARH, March 17 - A total 14 candidates filed their nomination papers before the Returning Officers here today to contest in the Assembly polls.
The candidates who submitted their nominations include Chakradhar Gogoi (BJP) and Ashok Kumar Oraon (Independent) from 115 Moran LAC; Prasanta Phukan (BJP), Diganta Phukan (CPI) and Jugen Kachari (Independent) from 116 Dibrugarh LAC; Teres Goala (BJP) from 118 Duliajan LAC; Atuwa Munda (INC), Bimal Borah (BJP) and Elias Hishan (Jharkhand Desum Party) from 119 Tingkhong LAC; Naren Sonowal (AGP) and Arabinda Sonowal (Independent) from 120 Naharkatia LAC; and Binod Hazarika (BJP), Raju Sahu (INC) and Debnath Majhi (CPI-ML Liberation) from 121 Chabua LAC.
The city witnessed massive crowds as supporters of all the candidates converged on the Chowkidinghee ground. The unprecedented crowd caused traffic snarls at various places in the city. Several vehicles were stranded at different roads due to the increase in traffic.
