GUWAHATI, Aug 18 Altogether 13 girls undergoing training at the Central Training Institute for Home Guards sustained injuries, one of them grievously, when a stun grenade meant for creating real-like situation during training session blew off with them in close proximity.

The youths were being trained on riot control at the institute located at Panikhaiti when the incident took place.

Use of stun grenade during the training session is a regular practice aimed at creating stimulation. Unfortunately, the trainees got too close to the stun grenade leading to the accident, Senior Superintendent of Police (City) Deepak Choudhury told The Assam Tribune.
