AIZAWL, July 21 - Eleven BSF personnel and one Indian Army jawan were among 13 fresh COVID-19 cases detected during the last 24 hours in Mizoram.

Out of 133 samples tested at the Zoram Medical College (ZMC) laboratory here on Monday, 13 people, including 11 BSF jawans, were confirmed positive, an official release said.

The BSF jawans were under quarantine at the Rajiv Awas Yojana hall at Falkland, Aizawl, while the Army man had already been admitted to the ZMC as he had symptoms. The remaining infected person, a doctor, is employed at the ZMC and had contracted the virus from a patient.

Except for the Army personnel, who returned from Jammu and Kashmir, all the patients are asymptomatic, the release said.

Mizoram has so far reported 297 cases of COVID-19, of which 129 are active and 168 are recovered cases.

Meanwhile, a complete lockdown was imposed in the Durtlang Leitan locality and the Zuangtui locality where the infected doctor resides, from today. A private hospital at Mission Vengthlang was also cordoned off.
