GUWAHATI, March 9 - The North East-Institute of Advanced Studies (NE-IAS) felicitated 13 distinguished women of the State for outstanding contribution in their respective fields on its campus here on Friday.
Keshab Charan Das, founder-director of NE-IAS, felicitated the dignitaries with a memento and seleng sador each.
Director of NE-IAS Sankar Ray elaborated on the theme �Think Equal, Build Smart, Innovate for Change�.
The noted personalities who were felicitated included Moloya Goswami, Violet Baruah, Dr Biju Dutta, Prof Shiela Bora, Dr Ruma Talukdar, Ajanta Hazarika, Krishna Hazarika Rao, Chayamoni Saikia, Prarthana Hazarika, Jahnabi Phookan, Barsha Phukan, Dr Malabika Talukdar and Waheeda Rahman.
Women�s Day celebrated: Ayursundra Superspecialty Hospital, Garchuk celebrated International Women�s Day today with a programme based on women empowerment and fitness.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ayona Barthakur, head of Mother and Child Unit, emphasised that only by providing affordable healthcare for women from all strata of society, can a healthier and more productive society can be built.
The invited guests included well-known woman achievers and role models for young women like Dr Santwana Bordoloi, well-known doctor and award-winning filmmaker and Rashmi Agarwal, Principal Accountant General of Assam.
