12th Bodoland Book Fair begins

KOKRAJHAR, Dec 17 � The 7-day 12th Bodoland Book Fair & Youth Festival, 2012 began at Kokrajhar Govt. HS & MP School playground here today.

Kampa Borgayari, Deputy Chief of BTC inaugurated the main gate of the book fair at a brief function as a chief guest. In this connection a meeting was also held which was chaired by Derhasat Basumatary, president of organising committee and EM, BTC.

Speaking on the occasion Kampa Borgayari said that through the book fair a book reading habit & culture could be developed and hoped this book fair certainly benefited the student masses as well as the book loving people of this locality.

On the occasion three books of renowned Boro writers namely Sahitya Academy Awardee Dr. Mangal Sing Hazoary,s �Gudan Mugani�, Saradha Prasad Mushaharie�s �Biswambini Sar Ser�, & Hari Charan Boro Mushahary�s �Israil� have been released by the chief guest Kampa Borgoyari.

The inaugural program was attended by presidents of various sahitya sabha along with other dignitaries. Sri MC Sahu, principal secretary of BTC gave the welcome address.

Talking to media persons the president of the organizing committee Derhasat Bsumatary said to motivate the students community of BTC for choosing their future career the organising committee this time also holding Youth Festival during the book fair which scheduled to be held in between December 21 to December 24 next at the same venue. The students of all colleges of BTC will take part in the youth festival, he said adding that coinciding with the book fair literary activities, poem recitation, seminar, poet�s meet, cultural show etc. will also be held during the fair.

Today a quiz competition for the senior and junior students of BTC region was held which was conducted by renowned quiz master Barry O Brien.
