127 papers filed for TAC polls in Morigaon

MORIGAON, July 29 - Altogether 127 candidates filed nomination papers today for elections in 19 seats of the Tiwa Autonomous Council (TAC) which are located in Morigaon district. The polls will be held on August 19. Today was the last date of filing of nomination papers. TAC has 36 seats, out of which 19 are in Morigaon 11 in Nagaon and six in Kamrup (Metro) district. However, polling will not be held in Kamrup (M) district, due to non-preparation of the voters� list.

Meanwhile, the Congress, the BJP and the Tiwa Jatiya Oikya Manch candidates have filed nomination papers in every constituency while the Asom Gana Parishad and CPI have decided to support the Tiwa Jatiya oikya Manch candidates.
