125 critical polling stations under Bongaigaon dist

BONGAIGAON, April 22 - Three assembly segments of Bongaigaon district (Abhayapuri North, South and Bongaigaon) which come under Barpeta Parliamentary constituency will go to the Lok Sabha polls tomorrow. Polling officials today reached their respective polling stations with polling materials.

The total number of electorates in the district is 5,32,148 and the number of polling stations is 726 of which 125 are critical.

To empower and encourage the woman electorates, eight polling stations have been set up specially for them. These polling stations will be manned by woman security personnel and polling officers, Bongaigaon Deputy Commissioner Adil Khan said.

Three model polling stations in the district will provide more facilities to the electorates in a view to register maximum polling percentage, Khan said.

Meanwhile a mobile app named �Sankalp� has been launched in 32 Bongaigaon Assembly segment to encourage the first time voters. They can upload their selfies in the app and use it to get the details of their polling stations.

Security has been tightened to conduct the poll peacefully. Eight companies of paramilitary forces and police have been deployed in the district. Extra vigil has been maintained in critical polling stations, Bongaigaon Superintendent of Police Subodh Kumar Sonowal said.
