124 stranded people given shelter at city facilities

GUWAHATI, March 28 - In the past four days, the Kamrup (Metro) district administration has arranged shelter for 124 people from outside the city who remain stranded due to the present nationwide lockdown.

According to a source, for this purpose the district administration has arranged shelter facilities at two places, Sanganeria Dharamsala at Fancy Bazar and Hotel Contour at Paltan Bazar.

At Sanganeria Dharamsala altogether 89 people are taking shelter. Among them, one person each is from Golaghat, Sivasagar, Tinsukia, Sonitpur and Bengaluru, five persons are from Dibrugarh, 12 are from Dhemaji, four from Biswanath, 14 from Lakhimpur, six from Arunachal Pradesh and three persons are from Tripura. Forty others are homeless persons.

At Hotel Contour altogether 35 persons are taking shelter. Among them, one person each is from Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Mizoram, two persons each are from Uttarakhand, Russia and Manipur, three persons are from Delhi, four are from Bihar, eight are from Chennai and nine persons are from Jorhat, along with one homeless person.
