12 returnees from Nizamuddin in Karimganj dist test COVID-19 negative

NILAMBAZAR, April 3 - The test results of 12 persons returning from the religious ceremony at Nizamuddin Markaz in New Delhi has turned out to be negative, bringing a sigh of relief across the district, sources in the Health department informed.

The news of the return of several people from Nizamuddin to Karimganj district had created panic in the district on Wednesday, after the blood test report of Jamal Uddin of village Hasanpur under Badarpur circle, who had returned from Nizamuddin Markaz, had turned out to be positive, making it the first such case in Assam.

According to information available, so far 22 persons from Karimganj district are known to have attended the markaz ceremony at Nizamuddin in New Delhi. Twelve of them had returned to their homes in different villages of Karimganj district recently. Ten others are still in Delhi. Although the test results of the 12 persons was found to be negative, they have been quarantined by the administration.

On the other hand, the reports of blood tests of eight family members of Jamal Uddin have also turned out to be negative. They have also been kept under quarantine at the isolation ward of Girishganj Model Hospital for further investigation by the Health department.

A senior official of the district administration informed ANN Service that the administration has taken all necessary steps to identify the infected people.

So far, 2106 persons in Karimganj district have been put under home quarantine and 45 persons have been kept in the isolation ward of the hospitals.
