12-hour bandh in Rabha Hasong area today

GOALPARA, May 16 � The Rabha National Council (RNC) has announced a 12-hour bandh in the entire Rabha Hasong area tomorrow from 6 am in protest against the alleged kidnnaping of two members of Rabha community, Kameswar Rabha and Sarit Rabha, by suspected Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) while they were returning they were returning from Gendabari village at Dawgrre area along the Assam-Meghalaya border under Agia police station on May 13 last.

It may be mentioned that Sarit Rabha accompanied Kameswar Rabha, a teacher of Belpara ME School and also a booth-level officer, who was on a field visit for the ongoing Photo Electoral Rolls (PER) exercise when the incident happened.

Meanwhile, All Rabha Student Union(ARSU), district committee while supporting the bandh called by the RNC also announced a 12-hour Goalpara district bandh simultaneously.

Meanwhile, Preetom Saikia, Deputy Commissioner appealed to cancel the bandh call announced by the RNC and the All Rabha Student Union (ARSU),district unit tomorrow and urged all members of different communities to maintain peace and harmony as the district administration is doing everything possible to nab the culprits.

However, police are tight-lipped over the incident but claimed to have identified some of the suspects and they are conducting operations to nab the culprits in that area.
