12 held guilty in Jhankar lynching case

DIPHU, Feb 24 - The Diphu district court today held 12 of the 16 accused as guilty in the seven-year-old mob lynching case of Jhankar Saikia. The court of Justice Amiruddin Ahmed today announcing the verdict said the quantum of punishment of the twelve will be declared on February 28.

Out of the 16 accused, four have been declared fault-free. The Diphu district court announced the names of the 12 accused in the brutal mob lynching here today. The names of the 12 accused are: Biswajit Hanse, Hitesh Rabha, Bikram Tisso, Robinson Teron, Mongal Sing Rongphar, Jonsing Teron, Sarsing Teron, Sanjay Rongphar, Sarlamoki Terang, Eunish Terang, Filipson Taro and Bimang Terang.

It may be mentioned here that Jhankar became the victim of a mob assault in Diphu town in on June 25, 2013. He was beaten to death by a group of auto-rickshaw drivers. He succumbed to his fatal injuries.
