12 council seats in Kokrajhar dist ready for polls

KOKRAJHAR, Dec 9 - Nearly 3500 poll personnel including polling materials and security personnel have left for their designated polling stations for conducting the 4th BTC election tomorrow in Kokrajhar district.

Under the Kokrajhar district administration, there are 12 BTC segments. They are: 7-Fakiragram (Non-ST); 9-Banargaon (ST); 10-Debargaon (ST); 11-Baukhungri (ST); 12-Salakati (ST); 2-Guma (Un-reserved); 3-Srirampur (Non-ST); 4-Jomduar (ST); 5-Saraibil (ST); 6-Kachugaon (ST); 8-Dotma (ST) and 1- Parbatjhora (ST).

In Kokrajhar district, there are 905 polling stations. Of the 905 polling station, 156 have been identified as very sensitive, 359 as sensitive and rest as comparatively safe.

Bhaskar Phukan, Deputy Commissioner of Kokrajhar, who is also the Returning Officer of Kokrajhar stated that the ballot boxes have been checked and all designated polling agents and presiding officers of polling stations were handed over the required poll materials from 7 am today from the Basic Training Centre, Kokrajjhar.

The Deputy Commissioner also said that adequate security personnel have been posted in the sensitive polling stations. He further informed that video coverage would be done in selected polling stations for smooth conduct of the polls.

It may be mentioned here that more than 6.5 lakh voters will exercise their franchise tomorrow in Kokrajhar district in 12 BTC seats. In Thursday�s elections, 77 candidates are in the fray in Kokrajhar district.

The poll will be held from 7.30 am to 4.30 pm tomorrow and the counting of votes will be held on December 12 next.
