11th quake of the year rocks NE

GUWAHATI, May 4 - An earthquake, measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale, rocked the northeastern region at 4:33 pm today. According to the India Meteorology Department (IMD), the epicentre of the tremor was located at Latitude 26.3 degree North and 95.8 degree East Longitude in Nagaland on the Indo-Myanmar Border. The depth of the earthquake was 10 km below the Earth�s surface.

Today�s earthquake was the 11th tremor that rocked Northeast India during the current year. On April 27, the tenth quake, having a magnitude of 4.4, rocked the region at 11:57 am. The epicentre of that earthquake was located at Latitude 26.6 degree North and at Longitude 93.1 degree East. Its depth was 15 km below the Earth�s surface.
