11th Bodoland Day observed

KOKRAJHAR, Feb 10 � As part of the 11th Bodoland Day celebration, Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) chief Hagrama Mohilary today formally inaugurated the Bodoland Martyrs� Cemetery built at Deborgaon, about 10 km north of Kokrajhar town in honour of 1,607 martyrs, who laid down their lives during the Bodoland movement.

The cemetery, a dream project of Mohilary, has been built in an area of 50 bighas of land at a cost of Rs 5 crore. The foundation stone of the cemetery too was laid by him on November 3, 2004.

Ministers, MPs and Bodo dignitaries who were present on the occasion offered glowing tributes to the martyrs. Members of the 1607 martyrs� families also offered floral tribute to them. Leaders of various organizations, common people, and students also offered tribute to the martyrs.

Speaking on the occasion Mohilary said the Bodos will never forget the supreme sacrifice made for the people by the 1607 martyrs.
