1,195 polling stations in Gauhati LS seat

GUWAHATI, March 11 - Polling for the upcoming General Elections in the Gauhati Lok Sabha constituency will be held at altogether 1,195 polling stations to be set up in 525 locations, said Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup (Metro) Biswajeet Pegu here today. Polling in this constituency will be held on April 23.

Altogether 12 flying squads have been deployed in the constituency to keep vigil on implementation of the Election Code of Conduct. According to DC Pegu, anyone can complain about violation of the Election Code of Conduct through the C-Vigil app which will be available on Google Play Store from March 18 and flying squads will respond to the complaint within 100 minutes.

Meanwhile, the Kamrup (Metro) district administration today organised an awareness run titled �Run for Vote� to raise awareness among people about the electoral process as part of the upcoming General Elections.

Hundreds of students from various educational institutions and youths of Guwahati took part in the run, which was flagged off by Chief Election Officer of Assam Mukesh Sahu from the Latasil playground.

Speaking on the occasion, Sahu urged all sections of people, especially the younger generation, to come out to tender their votes in the upcoming elections.

Deputy Commissioner Pegu also organised a meeting with representatives of various political parties of the State to discuss various issues related to the ensuing General Elections.

He explained the rules and regulations set by the Election Commission for the General Elections, to the representatives of the political parties.
