11 model polling stations in Kamrup Metro election district

GUWAHATI, April 12 - Altogether 11 model polling stations will be set up for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls in Kamrup Metro election district by the State Election Department.

These model polling stations are: 141-Pandu College right wing polling station and 142-Pandu College middle wing polling station in Jalukbari Legislative Assembly constituency (LAC) area, 219-Beltola College right wing polling station and 220-Beltola College east wing polling station in Dispur LAC area and 173-Assam Engineering Institute right wing polling station, 174-Assam Engineering Institute left wing polling station, 176-Assam Engineering Institute west wing polling station, 241-South Point Montessori School right wing polling station, 242-South Point Montessori School left wing polling station, 244-South Point Montessori School middle wing polling station and 245-South Point School east wing polling station in Guwahati West LAC area.

According to officials of the Election Department, special arrangements for voters will be available at those polling stations, such as rest room, drinking water facility, rest room, baby feeding room, etc.

In Kamrup Metro election district, voting will be held at altogether 1,195 polling stations to be set up in 525 locations, according to Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup (Metro) Biswajeet Pegu. Polling in Guwahati constituency will be held on April 23.

In Jalukbari LAC, the 145-Pandu College left wing polling station will have the highest number of voters (1,223) and the 208-Ganesh Das High School right wing polling station will have the lowest number of voters (363).

In Dispur LAC, the 102-Hengrabari ME School right wing polling station will have the highest number of voters (1,367) and the 345-Bejeri LP School polling station will have the lowest number of voters (306).

In Guwahati East LAC, the 215-office of the Director of Soil Conservation east wing polling station will have the highest number of voters (1,345), while the 118-Rabindra Bhawan left wing polling station will have the lowest number of voters (387).

In Guwahati West LAC, 263-Betkuchi High School left wing polling station will have the highest number of voters (1,360) and the 71-Dakhlapara LP School left wing polling station will register the lowest number of voters (268).

In a recent survey carried out by booth-level officers across Kamrup Metro election district, altogether 11 polling booths were found located on the first floor of the respective buildings.

According to official sources, the district administration will appoint porters at those polling stations to carry differently-abled voters, who cannot use staircases, to the first floor on polling day.

Meanwhile, the general observer and the expenditure observer appointed by the Election Commission in the district today held a meeting with all officials concerned and took stock of the preparation for the upcoming polls.
