11 family members of COVID-19 patient picked up at Nagaon

NAGAON, April 4 - Following confirmation of COVID-19 positive case of a Guwahati-based businessman Manish Tibrewal, the Nagaon district administration as well as the district health surveillance unit this afternoon picked up 11 family members, including other staff members of the infected person, from his Nagaon residence situated at Maruwaripatty here. The district Health department immediately admitted all of them, including their family cook, drivers and other staff to Nagaon Kandali PHE centre, which is a newly-promoted isolation ward to combat the novel coronavirus in the district.

According to sources of the district health services, the businessman who has been confirmed as COVID-19 positive, visited his Nagaon-based residence recently and mixed up with his family members and staff. Although they were picked up and admitted to the isolation ward at Kandali today for further observation, their blood samples are yet to be sent for confirmation, the sources added.

Earlier this morning, various surveillance teams screened the health conditions of 47 people at various locations in the district, out of which 32 people have been put under home quarantine while 15 of them have been admitted to isolation wards, especially set up at various locations in the district for further observation.

According to sources, out of these 15 people, 8 people had personal contact with the COVID-19 positive case from Karimganj and six were family members of the attendees of Nizamuddin Markaz in Delhi while one person arrived from outside the State other than Delhi. The blood samples of all these 15 people have already been sent for confirmation today, the sources added.
