KOKRAJHAR, March 23 - Preparations are on to observe the foundation day and the 10th annual conference of the All Santhal Students� Union (ASSU) at Patkijuli Mainao Club in Baksa district of BTAD from March 25 to 27.
Talking to media-persons today here at Kokrajhar, Simon Kisku, president of the All Santhal Students� Union (ASSU) said that a strong reception committee has already been formed with Emmanuel Moshahary (MLA, Tamalpur) as president and Marcel Hembrom and Dakshin Hembrom as secretaries. Several subcommittees have also been formed in this regard, he said.
According to the schedule, Ram Hasda, teacher, Darranga High School, will inaugurate the 10th annual conference of the ASSU on March 25. Bakul Mardi, president of the Assam Santhali Sahitya Sabha, Dakshin Hembrom and others will be the guests of honour on the occasion.
The main gate of the conference will be inaugurated by Phulindra Basumatary, MCLA, Baganpara, while the main pandal and the stage will be inaugurated by Emmanuel Moshahary.
On the second day, Simon Kisku will unfurl the flag of the union, while ASSU general secretary Mintu Hembrom will pay homage to the martyrs.
BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary will be the chief guest of the open session of the conference.
Rihon Daimary, Minister PHE, Food & Civil Supply & Consumer, Pallab Lochan Das Minister of State Labour & Employment Tea Tribes Welfare, will be invited as distinguished guests. Several Bodo and Adivashi leaders will also be invited as special and distinguished guests on the occasion.
A seminar on �Greater role and participation of parents and students in transforming society and promoting Santhal identity� will also be held during the conference, beside a tree plantation programme.
