�108� personnel brave mob fury, rescue 4

GUWAHATI, Aug 26 � In an incident of putting service before self, personnel of the 108 GVK EMRI Mrityunjoy emergency service braved a mob violence to rescue four persons at Lakhimpur town on Monday.

An emergency medical technician, Manjir Borah sustained serious injuries in the process.

An official statement from GVK EMRI emergency service said that the Mrityunjoy team was assigned a case of assault/violence in village Saboti, Kalyanpur under Lilabari police station at 6-42 pm on August 22 following which emergency medical technician Manjir Borah and pilot Eyakub Ali immediately rushed to the scene, reaching the spot within ten minutes.

The team found around 500 villagers holding sticks etc., and attacking four persons who were seriously injured. The mob then started pelting stones and Manjir was also seriously injured.

"Risking their lives, the two-member Mrityunjoy team stayed at the scene and managed to carry the critically injured victims from the hands of the angry villagers to Lakhimpur civil hospital and got them admitted. It was an appreciable act on the part of the two Mrityunjoy personnel," it said.

The critically injured victims admitted to Lakhimpur civil hospital were Amanur Rahman, Golap Pegu, Lilakanta Pegu and Repejyoti Doley.
