NAGAON, Jan 13 - The historic 106th Sadou Nagaon Bhogali Bihu will be celebrated at the Nehrubali field here.
According to the organising committee of the Sadou Nagaon Bhogali Bihu 2019, the five-day long Bihu will begin with �naam kirtan� at the bhelaghar specially constructed at the venue tomorrow on the eve of Magh Bihu.
The programme on the next day i.e., on January 15 will begin with a special function to pay tributes to the great souls of the soil by the president of the organising committee, Dr Naren Kalita and others. Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal attending the occasion as the chief guest will hoist the Bihu flag and also put light the meji. The Union Minister of State for Railways, Rajen Gohain will inaugurate the door of the open exhibition of the stalls of the self help groups of the district.
The MLAs of the district on behalf of the organising committee will felicitate some senior citizens of the district. A series of cultural functions and other competitions will be held or conducted and the Bihu celebrations will conclude on January 18. Various dignitaries of the State�s cultural field like Jatin Bora, Raag Oinitom, Barsharani Bishaya, Sarm-istha Chakrabarty, JP Das, Sandhya Menon, Malobika Bora, Shyamol Saikia, Bidya Sagor, Rohit Sonar, Deeplina Deka, Chetona Das and others will grace the occasion. The local folklore artist, Krishnamoni Nath will be conferred with the �Kolongporia Bihuwaratna Award�.
