101 cattle recovered, 5 held

DHUBRI, Aug 26 - In three separate operations, troops of Guwahati Frontier, Border Security Force apprehended five persons suspected to be Indian cattle smugglers and rescued 101 cattle heads from bordering areas of Kaliralga village under Sukhchar PS of South Salmara Mankachar district and from Sastraghat village under Dhubri Sadar PS of Dhubri district on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday.

A release from BSF stated that the troops from Border Out Post (BOP) Boreralga of 06 Battalion of BSF carried out a special operation in the riverine area of Indo-Bangladesh international border and apprehended four persons suspected to be Indian cattle smugglers along with 10 cattle heads after a hot pursuit, while cattle heads were being smuggled from India to Bangladesh.

In the second operation, troops of Border Out Post (BOP) Shishumara of 06 Bn BSF carried out an operation in riverine areas of Indo-Bangladesh international border and apprehended one Indian cattle smuggler along with 8 cattle heads after a hot pursuit, while cattle heads were being smuggled from India to Bangladesh.

Apart from these, BSF troops have also rescued 52 cattle heads from different places of Coochbehar district of West Bengal and 31 cattle heads from different places of South Salamara Mankachar district of Assam on Indo-Bangladesh border, while cattle heads were being smuggled from India to Bangladesh.
