10,000 school dropouts re-admitted in Manipur

IMPHAL, Aug 27 - Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh said that around 10,000 school drop-out children in the State have been re-admitted to school under State Government�s Lairik Tamhansi, an educational scheme, so far.

The CM was speaking at a function where he dedicated a water supply scheme to the public at Lamdeng in Imphal West district on Sunday.

Recently, Biren had informed of the State having around 40,000 school dropouts. He had also informed that the government would readmit them in different government schools free of cost. The government has earmarked Rs 10 crore to bear their educational expenses under the Lairik Tamhansi scheme.

He also said that around 2.4 lakh people would be benefitted under Ayushman Bharat. The new government is committed to build a healthy society and encourage entrepreneurship and self employment, he added.

The Lamdeng Water Supply Scheme was taken up by PHE at a cost of Rs 280 lakh under State Plan. The scheme having a capacity of 9.3 lakh litres per day was sanctioned in 2016.
